About IDAutomation PDF417 Font and Encoder

This PDF417 Font and Encoder permits printing of PDF417 barcodes with TrueType, PCL and PostScript fonts. Includes Applet, Servlet, Java Library, DLLs and ActiveX examples for Excel, Word, Access, plus Java, .NET and Crystal Reports. This advanced PDF417 font uses IDAutomation Vertical Interleaved Technology which allows increased throughput and printing with small sizes.

The implementation of PDF417 Font and Encoder as a font, consists of both the encoder and the font. The purpose of the encoder is to convert the data to encode into proper bar and space patterns formatted to our PDF417 barcode font. The encoder returns a text string that when printed or displayed as our PDF417 font creates the PDF417 symbol.

when using the PDF417 barcode symbology,Large amounts of text and data can be stored efficiently. Because the PDF417 font uses Reed Solomon error correction, the symbol can withstand some damage without causing loss of data. This high level of error correction decreases chances of read errors and is far more advanced than linear barcodes with check digits. Up to about 850 characters can be dependably encoded and read with the PDF417 barcode symbology.

Types of PDF417 Font and Encode Supported: It supports MacroPDF, which allows additional data to be encoded by dividing the data into multiple symbols and Truncated PDF, which decreases the horizontal size of the symbol by two columns. MicroPDF417 is similar to PDF417, however, it is only provided in IDAutomation's RSS products.
