The encoding and decoding process of DataMatrix is very complex. To print DataMatrix barcodes as a font, the data will need to be formatted with the IDAutomation DataMatrix encoder. The encoder will return a character string that, when combined with the Data Matrix Font, will create a proper barcode symbol. For example, by sending the text of "IDAUTOMATION DataMatrix Font and Encoder" to the encoder, it returns the string of characters as shown below. These characters will create the correct symbol when the font is applied.

The IDAutomation DataMatrix Barcode Font & Encoder allows printing of high density ECC200 Data Matrix symbols with TrueType, PCL and PostScript fonts by using IDAutomation Vertical Interleaved Technology?. Includes VB code, Java Library, ASP.NET Web Control, .NET Forms Control DLL and examples for Excel, Word, Access, Java, .NET and Crystal Reports. Hundreds of text characters and binary data can be stored securely and inexpensively with the Data Matrix symbology. Using Reed Solomon error correction, the printed DataMatrix symbol can also withstand damage without causing loss of data. This high level of error correction is far more advanced than one dimensional barcodes with check digits.
